You are now 2 wks old- actually 2 wks and 2 days. You are about 19.5 in long and 8lbs 6oz- you’ve gained a whole pound since birth! Time sure flies. On one hand it seems like it was just yesterday we brought you home from St. Davids, yet, on the other it seems you’ve been with us forever.
Your 2nd week of life has been largely uneventful. Due to our only vehicle with air conditioning breaking down, you and I did not leave the apartment the entire week. You didn’t seem to notice. I think it was some sort of record for me, I can’t think of a time when I’ve stayed in the house for 3 days straight, much less an entire week. This past week you’ve eaten a lot, slept more, and had some mornings where you refused to go to sleep for 4 hrs straight. You are overall a good baby and only fuss when something is wrong. Sometimes mama and daddy have trouble figuring out what that is. Hungry? Tired? Too hot? Too cold? Sometimes you just need some downtime to yourself, as we discover a couple nights ago. After you fussed and cried for 20 mins and we ran through the list of what could be wrong, I finally just sat you down in the swing. You immediately stopped fussing, I didn’t even have to turn the swing on. I guess we all need a little alone time sometimes.
One of your favorite things to do is sit out on the porch with mommy. Sometimes we just sit, others I rock and sing to you. You like sleeping (especially on mommy or daddy’s chest) and eating and the music I play for you. You don’t mind diaper changes much- you cry until we have the diapers and clothes off of you, then you are happy and content. At least until we have to put a diaper and clothes back on and then you fuss again until you are fully dressed.
This week you had your first bath. Daddy and I were both expecting you to scream- loudly! We were both wrong, you seemed to love it. You just relaxed and floated in the water while daddy held you and mama washed you. You really are a chill baby most of the time and its wonderful.
Being lowered into the water, you aren’t sure what to think at first!
We are so happy you are ours, Magnolia. We love you so much.
Love, Mommy and Daddy
